TREATMENT
CONDUCTIVE KERATOPLASTY
Conductive Keratoplasty is a technique that is used to treat mainly presbyopia although it is also used to treat low magnitudes of hyperopia. It is a non-laser technique that uses a radiofrequency probe to apply spots of treatment to the corneal stroma. This results in shrinkage of stromal collagen fibres. As the spots are applied in a pre-determined pattern this results in a titrated increase in the refractive power of the central cornea. The pattern of spot application is determined by a nomogram that has been worked out over many cases.
